The first floor of Carlsbad's Library Learning Center is closed through October because of maintenance. If you're going there for homework help, tutoring or to drop off a ballot, you can still use the second floor.

The Learning Center is at 3368 Eureka Place. Not every service is running, so it's worth checking before you drive over.

What's Still Open Upstairs?

The city says Homework Zone, literacy tutoring and the ballot drop box are available on the second floor.

The first-floor closure began before the city's October 20 announcement. There's no confirmed reopening date yet beyond the end-of-October timeframe.

If you normally visit for another class or program, call the Learning Center at 442-339-5500 to check whether it's available.

Homework Help Hasn't Disappeared

Homework Zone is still available upstairs. It serves students from kindergarten through 12th grade when Carlsbad Unified schools are in session.

Help is first come, first served. Literacy tutoring is also continuing on the second floor.

Families heading over after school should check the current schedule before making the trip.

The Ballot Drop Box Is Still Listed

The Learning Center is an official San Diego County ballot drop-off location. The city says the drop box remains accessible during the first-floor closure.

Through November 2, the county lists hours of 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday. It's closed Sundays.

On Election Day, Tuesday, November 3, the listed hours are 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Other Carlsbad drop-off locations include Georgina Cole Library and the Dove Lane library. If you're unsure about the entrance at the Learning Center, call before heading over.
